Meet the Artist
After receiving a B.S. in Industrial Arts Education I was given a grant
to study furniture design in Denmark. My Danish wife and I moved to
Denmark, where I apprenticed with a Danish furniture maker. The shop was
a one man, small production operation, which has prepared me well for my
own one man shop in which I now work in Massachusetts. Following this
experience, I studied Furniture Design at Skolen For Brugskunst
(School of Functional Art), in Copenhagen, Denmark. I have been
designing and building custom furniture since the late 1970s.
Much of my work is influenced by the time I spent in the Kingdom of Denmark. The design philosophy of "form follows function" inspired me then and continues to do so. My furniture spans many styles since much of my work is designing and building custom pieces to order. Working alone allows me to work on each project from concept to completion while keeping the cost low.
